Isabel was involved in drama from her early primary school years. When she graduated from Queensland University of Technology, she continued her studies in acting at the Victoria College of Arts. Additionally, she recently completed a PEM Method course (Perdekamp Emotional Method) study. Before 2002, she never had an audition. She auditioned for an actress for the TV show Home and Away.
